Michi no Eki Akita Port, located north of Akita City in the Akita Port area, faces the Sea of Japan.It is a sightseeing facility comprised of Port Tower Selion, the symbol of Akita Port, as well as the botanical garden Selion Rista, the multipurpose hall Selion Plaza, and the outdoor Event Hiroba.

In addition to the popular observation deck for viewing the surrounding area, Port Tower Selion is a convenient and fun destination with a market and restaurants.

Lights during the Christmas season

Port Tower Selion is 143 meters high. It is a skeleton structure comprised of 6,272 panes of tempered glass. It is lit up when the sun goes down, blending into the port scenery.
The highlight is the view from the free observation deck located 100 meters above the ground! You can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the area.

Local Akita sakes are also gaining in popularity overseas!

Selion Garden, located on the first floor of Selion Tower, is a market where you will find a variety of products including fresh foods, processed goods, and local sakes.
Here you will find seasonal fruits and vegetables from local producers, gakko (Japanese pickles), processed goods such as marine products, and souvenirs like Akita specialties kiritanpo and Inaniwa Udon noodles.
You will also find a large selection of local sake brands from around the prefecture. A sake master is available to answer any questions you may have about what makes each brand special.

Every seat at Selion Cafe is next to a window with an extravagant view.

It’s time to take a break when you get hungry. Enjoy a casual meal with seasonal vegetables at Selion Kitchen, Seafood BBQ & Seafood Bowl “Tsuchizaki Minatoya”, or coffee and light meal at Selion Cafe with its fabulous view from 96 meters off the ground.

Babahera ice cream cones: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed Nov. to Mar.)

Take a stroll around the surrounding area.

Selion Rista, located next to Selion Tower, is an indoor botanical garden with lush greenery. It also has some playground equipment, so you can have some fun with your kids even when the weather outside is not cooperating.

Sahara Shoten’s “Soba/Udon noodle vending machine,” which became the talk of the town after being featured on television, has been moved to Selion Rista, where it has become a popular new attraction.
It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The price is 250 yen a bowl.
Selion Garden sells instant udon packs. Price is 250 yen.
